LAN in MANIT Hostels, atlast!
I have been hearing that the internet connection to all the hostel rooms will be officially provided by the college authority since the day I entered MANIT. But I have been here for the last three years without any much development towards this concern. I and a few of my friends even ran after the Networking Head who happened to be our HOD, Electronics Department, a few weeks ago. There was some sort of budget problem with the World Bank (who was going to fund the Networking Project in our College Hostels) and they got the estimated funds canceled until the college re-estimate the budget again.
I am really glad that the problem with the World Bank seems to be resolved now. I saw the workers busy giving new line connections in each rooms in our hostel yesterday. Though the process may take about a month to complete, as the workers informed me yesterday, at least this have to be one of the major developments for the hostel inmates. The LAN connection will be active in our hostel, maybe by the end of this coming summer vacation. But what the students really looking forward is the high speed internet connection to each room, as soon as the LAN is established. Let’s hope this is not far anymore!
